  • Use the Development Planning Checklist for guidance in completing the Development Planning Discussion Guide.
  • CSL has adopted the GROW model to outline Goals, assess current Reality, explore Options, and map a Way forward.
    • Michelle’s goal is to move into digital communications.
    • Her reality is that her current role doesn’t allow her much opportunity to grow in digital communications.
    • Her options include working toward a Management Level 7 role in digital communications or a Professional Level 7 role in digital communications. 
    • Her way forward is taking development actions that will help her gain relevant experience in digital communications.
  • Michelle should complete the Development Planning Discussion Guide to help shape development discussions and plans, including identifying skill sets she wants to focus on developing, such as the following:
    • Digital marketing
    • Web analytics
    • Problem-solving
    • Verbal communication
    • Strategy
  • Determine key points for the discussion with her people leader.
